Cookeville May Consider City Hall Window Replacement Bid

Cookeville City Council may consider awarding a bid on Thursday for replacing windows at city hall.

City Manager James Mills said he may add the project to Thursday’s agenda even though only one company submitted bids.

“They gave us two options. One of the options is less than what we had anticipated and the other option is little bit more than what we anticipated,” Mills said. “If I can work out the details them, then I will probably add that to the agenda.”

The city opened bids for the project last week. Mills said last month that adding more energy efficient windows would help lower utility costs at city hall, along with the installation of a new VRF HVAC system.

“Related to this, part of our energy efficiency will come from replacing the windows. We’ve solicited bids for that. We hope to have those due back by the 29th,” Mills said. “I think the energy savings from the windows is almost 25-percent. With the new windows and the VRF system, we should save quite a bit on utilities.”

The Cookeville City Council meets at 5:30 p.m. Thursday inside city hall.
