Cookeville Man Pleads Guilty To Statutory Rape

A Cookeville man has pleaded guilty to a statutory rape charge.

21-year-old Terrence Phillips received a 1-year suspended sentence during his Monday morning court case. He will also serve 11 months and 29 days of supervised probation for violating a protective order.

Authorities arrested Phillips earlier this year for allegedly having sexual relations with a 15-year-old.

The judge will not require Phillips to register as a sex offender. He remains behind bars at the Putnam County Jail for an additional charge against him.
