A Cookeville man pleaded guilty to manufacturing counterfeit currency in federal court Tuesday.
The U.S. Attorney’s office states Chadwin Greenwood, 33, created counterfeit currency by converting legitimate $10 bills to counterfeit $50 bills.
Greenwood admitted that he passed approximately $21,760 in counterfeit currency in the Middle District of Tennessee and elsewhere, before being caught attempting to pass a counterfeit $50 dollar bill at a Family Dollar Store in Livingston.
A federal grand jury indicted Greenwood on the charge in April.
Greenwood faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced on September 29.
