Cookeville Police arrested a man Tuesday on charges accusing him of punching, strangling, and groping a female.
26-year-old Martin Francisco faces a charge of aggravated assault.
According to arrest warrants, Francisco was driving to his home when he pulled off the roadway and began punching the victim in the eyeball. The warrant accused Francisco of pulling off the victim’s clothes, groping her breasts and attempting to strangle her with his hands.
The victim eventually got out of the car and ran for help. Officers said they located one of the victim’s shoes inside Francisco’s vehicle.
Francisco was arrested and taken to the Putnam County Jail. He remains behind bars on $25,000 bond.
His first court appearance will take place on February 4th.
