Cookeville Man Charged With Aggravated Assault

A Cookeville man has landed behind bars for allegedly pulling a knife during a fight at a Jefferson Avenue restaurant.

Cookeville Police charged Michael J. Evans with aggravated assault. He’s under $1,000 bond at the Putnam County Jail.

A police report said Evans pulled into the Hardee’s parking lot Monday and headed toward a couple standing outside. He allegedly came toward a female with with a knife before her boyfriend got in between the two.

The report said Evans dropped the knife during a fight and fled the scene.
