A Cookeville man faces charges for allegedly striking his stepson with an open hand Tuesday.
The Cookeville Police Department charged 41-year-old Jason Lee Stewart with child abuse and domestic assault. He has not posted $2,000 bond at this time.
Stewart allegedly assaulted the 14-year-old victim by pulling him upright by the shirt collar before pushing him against a wall. A police report noted that Stewart used enough force to cause the teenager’s elbow to make an indention in the sheet rock.
The report indicates that Stewart did strike the victim in the face with an open hand, causing redness and swelling.
