Cookeville Leader Joe Albrecht Passes Away

Cookeville lost a community leader Wednesday as Joe Albrecht passed away from a sudden illness at the age of 76-years old.

Albrecht spent a decade working as publisher for the Herald Citizen. He also served in a number of business and non-profit organizations and was chairman of the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce board of directors in 2014.

Putnam County Executive Randy Porter said Albrecht was one of the most trustworthy and honest friends you could ask for.

“He was also one of our great business leaders and community leaders for over 50 years,” Porter said. “He was editor and publisher at the Herald Citizen for several years and served numerous boards and leadership positions. It’s a sad day to lose Joe and we have lost a great leader today.”

A celebration of life for Joe Albrecht will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 31st at Cookeville United Methodist Church.

His family will receive friends on Monday and Tuesday at Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home.
