Cookeville’s Krispy Kreme Suddenly closed this morning with no warning to customers or employees.
Cookeville Mayor Ricky Shelton said he went to the doughnut shop this morning and was met by a southeast market manager informing him through a locked door that the store was closed and it was a corporate decision.
“I hate it for the employees because they showed up to work this morning and didn’t have a job,” Shelton said. “They were not given a notice or a warning and showed up to work this morning and they didn’t have a job. That’s said that they chose to close it that way.”
Shelton said the city received no notification that the Krispy Kreme location was closing.
Krispy Kreme opened in Cookeville in July of 2016.
News also broke today that Anchor Down and Jet’s Pizza would be closing as well.
