Cookeville Fire Station 4 Accepting Bids For Roof Repair

The Cookeville Fire Department is accepting bids to replace shingles on Station Four’s roof.

Fire Chief Daryl Blair said the roof is at least 15 years old. He said most roofs should last over 20 years.

“We’ve had some trouble, some shingles have blown off of it and our maintenance department went out there to look at it and stuff and seen exactly how bad it was,” Blair said. “That’s when we made the decision to try to get the roof reroofed.”

Blair said bidders have until July 31 to make their submissions. He said late proposals and bids taking complete or major exceptions will not be accepted.

So far the England Drive Fire Station hasn’t suffered from many water leaks, Blair said.

“We just hope to get it fixed and get the best bidder meeting our specifications, and for the best price,” Blair said.
