Cookeville Eyes New Location For Police Station

Cookeville officials have found another potential location for a new police station.

Thursday night the City Council approved a geotechnical study to be conducted at the corner of Neal Street and South Maple Avenue.

“It has great access for the public and the department,” City Manager Mike Davidson said. “The property owner has just given us right of entry to look at geotechnical work so we can analyze the property and make sure it would be suitable for a police station.”

Cookeville resident John Bogg was not a fan of the proposed site and voiced his concern at the end of the meeting.

“Worst location for a police station in Cookeville,” Bogg said. “I think the council has to put out a survey and question what other people think about that location as a possible police station.”

The council unanimously approved the geotechnical study and it will not exceed $13,500.
