Cookeville Electric doesn’t contact customers by phone for payments.
Earlier this year, scammers started calling Cookeville Electric customers and insisting their power would be disconnected unless a payment was made immediately.
Last weekend, the scammers targeted several restaurants with the same scam.
Cookeville Electric said all billing statements are done through the mail. If you’ve been targeted by the scammers, contact Cookeville Police at 931-526-2125.
