Cookeville Council To Consider Reimbursements Thursday

The Cookeville City Council will meet Thursday to consider reimbursing two cities that assisted during the aftermath of the Memorial Day weekend storm.

Both the Gallatin and Murfreesboro electric departments have asked the city for reimbursements to cover costs for labor and materials they provided to get the power restored.

“They sent a couple of crews and we were very appreciative of that,” Cookeville Mayor Ricky Shelton said. “We will be reimbursing them for the cost of their crews being here and in turn we will turn that in through our declaration for disaster relief. Hopefully some of those costs can be reimbursed to us, but we certainly wanted to reimburse those cities that were so gracious to help us.”

Shelton said the cost to the Gallatin Department of Electricity will be $16,652. Murfreesboro Electric provided labor and materials at a cost of $15,828.

The Cookeville City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday inside city hall.
