Cookeville City Council members will consider an ordinance to address concerns about noise when they meet tomorrow night.
The proposed ordinance comes after the city fielded a number of complaints over the last couple years about bass sounds at nighttime. At least one of those complaints stemmed from noise coming from night clubs on South Jefferson Avenue that sit next to a residential neighborhood.
The city’s current ordinance does address noise, but not for lower frequency noise like bass sounds.
The proposed ordinance would limit sounds in excess of 65db between the hours of midnight and 7:00 a.m.
