Cookeville Could Delay Second Reading of East 10th Rezoning

The Cookeville City Council could potentially delay the second reading of an ordinance rezoning property along East 10th Street.

City Manager Mike Davidson says officials are still in talks with Titan Development to finalize plans for the rezoning, but want to have things ready before Council makes a decision.

“One of the conditions placed on the rezoning was an acceptable agreement between the City of Cookeville and the developers for road improvements on 10th Street,” Davidson says. “We’re still working through that agreement with the developers. We’re hopeful to have something to present to Council by Thursday night and if so, that second reading on that ordinance will be heard Thursday night. But if not, we’ll look to postpone to the first meeting in February.”

City Council voted Jan. 3 to approve the ordinance on first reading, rezoning land between East 10th Street and Old Kentucky Road from single-family residential to planned commercial development.

The second reading of the ordinance is scheduled to take place this Thursday, Jan. 17 during the Council’s meeting at 5:30 p.m.
