Cookeville CityScape Executive Director Retires

After six years as Cookeville CityScape Executive Director, Laura Wolf retired Wednesday.

“I will be a grandmother,” Wolf said. “I’ll have my fourth grandson born in October. So for the first time in my life, I’m not working.”

Wolf said she won’t be a stranger, as she will be assisting new Executive Director Holly Freeman in execution of CityScape’s three major events for 2020: Taste Of The Town, Wine On The West Side and Fall Fun Fest.

Wolf said retirement from a position she has had such a passion for is bittersweet, but she has no doubt Freeman was the right fit.

“I probably wouldn’t have retired if I didn’t feel so good about who was coming in to take my place,” Wolf said.

What has she enjoyed most during her six years as Executive Director to CityScape? Seeing the revitalization and economic development of Cookeville’s historic West Side.

“To be able to work with a person that’s buying a building or renting a building and help them bring it up to today’s time but still acknowledging and recognizing the historical value of the building is so enjoyable for me,” Wolf said.

Freeman, an Upper Cumberland native, comes to this position with a wealth of event planning experience. She previously worked with the Country Music Hall Of Fame. Freeman moved back to Cookeville, initially, out of a desire to raise her family here, Wolf said.

In addition to assisting in CityScape’s major events for 2020, Wolf will continue serving multiple non-profit committees. She is in her second year as TSSAA Football Committee Chair.
