The Putnam County Fair Board’s throwing a carnival to raise money for the fair.
The Cookeville Spring Carnival kicks off Tuesday at the Putnam County Fairgrounds.
Board President John Allen said it’s a smaller version of the fair, with rides and games provided by the same vendor.
“It is the James King Amusements that’s in town that bring the rides and games for the fair and the carnival, it just gives folks a nice introduction to what the midway’s going to be like in August,” Allen said.
This is the third year the fair board has held the carnival, Allen said. Profits go to smaller improvements and renovations at the fairgrounds.
The carnival ends Saturday. Each night features ride specials, free admission and parking.
“Plus I mean, they have great burgers and pizza and funnel cakes and you can’t get funnel cakes anywhere like you can get them at the fair,” Allen said.
