Cookeville Breaks Ground On Dogwood Park Bathroom Facility

The city of Cookeville has broken ground on the new bathroom facility for Dogwood Park’s Heart of the City Playground.

Leisure Services Director Rick Woods said the addition was made to the park’s master plan after many parents voiced a need for restrooms near the playground.

“With young children, the only restroom facility we have in Dogwood Park is up near the performance pavilion,” Woods said. “So this new facility on the east side of the property will lessen that walk.”

Woods said the project is largely funded by the Heart of the City Playground Committee. City workers started the project earlier this month with an estimated spring completion. Woods said not much work will be needed since the bathroom facility is small and sewer and water lines run through the park.

“We are building this with in house forces,” Woods said. “We are working on it now weather permitting. Our guys will be working on it as they can over the next little bit. Hopefully by late spring, summer certainly next year, we will have that completed.”
