Cookeville Boot Camp Rebooting Fitness Goals in 2021

The Cane Creek (re)Boot Camp is open for registration and looks to get people in-shape and out of their comfort zone.

The Camp will run from April 1 until June 29 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Cane Creek Park. Leisure Services Special Programs Coordinator Jen Webb said this is a change for people to be challenged harder than they might challenge themselves.

“The three month program gives them an opportunity to make a commitment,” Webb said. “So that if they’re really wanting to create new habits of exercise or get back into a routine that they’ve fallen out of. They’re able to make that three month commitment and see real results.”

Webb said the words boot camp can be intimidating but the challenges will not be impossible. However, she said this program might not be for everyone.

“I would not recommend it for a beginner who has not yet started to exercise,” Webb said. “But for somebody who is comfortable with light jogging and doing some strength moves and things that might push them a little bit. Then yes, don’t let the name boot camp be overly intimidating.”

Webb said signing up for all three months includes a bonus for 14 additional free classes at Cane Creek Rec Center. She said if participants make the commitment the camp’s pre- and post-assessments will show them how much progress they’ve made.

“It’s just testing things like how many sit ups, how many push ups, a wall sit, what’s your walk or run time,” Webb said. “So we’ll have different markers that they’ll do and then the very last class we’ll repeat those and participants will be able to see the progress that they’ve made.”

Cookeville Leisure Services are offering an early bird special of $75 for the three months, if registered by Thursday. The normal fee will be $119 for all three months or $45 for one month.

Those interested in participating can sign up online or by calling Cane Creek Recreation Center.
