The Cookeville Art Prowl kicked off its weekend event and 20th anniversary celebration Friday.
The event features 27 stops featuring a total of 80 local artists across downtown Cookeville. Executive Director Jennifer Luna said the self-guided tour returns in-person this year.
“I think it’s extremely important for our community to support all these amazing, talented people,” Luna said. “It brings awareness to other people that may not realize how much work and dedication and love goes all into this.”
Luna said those interested can find maps of the course at most Cookeville businesses or by visiting ArtRoundTennessee.com. Luna said a 20th anniversary exhibit will be located at stop #3 at the Silver Fern on East Spring Street.
“You can start with one and just work your way down the map, or you can start where ever you like and just walk around,” Luna said. “You’ll see the bright yellow signs all around town that says art prowl.”
Luna said by participating, you are supporting artists that are essentially small business owners. Luna said some have participated all 20 years since the prowl started.
“That includes Mary Lee Hall, Mr. Wayne Hogan and Adele Seitzinger,” Luna said. “They have all participated every single year, but what is great about this year too is that we have so many new artist that have never participated.”
Luna said music performances will also be included at the Cookeville Depot Saturday.
