The Cookeville City Council met Thursday and approved a contract for the new skate park at park view pool.
“The purpose of the agenda item last night was to give the city manager and leisure services director permission to contract with a company to actually design the skate park,” Henry said. “We past that last night a look forward to getting that done. We hope to break ground in late winter or early spring and six to eight months after that hopefully the skate park will be a reality.”
Henry said the local skating community will be working with the company on the design process.
Last year the city received a $400,000 state grant to help build the skate park. That grant requires 50-percent matching funds from the city.
