Cookeville Approves Bid For City Hall Window Replacement

The City of Cookeville will spend $132,158 to replace 76 windows at city hall.

City Manager James Mills said it’s one of two projects that should lower utility costs at the building.

“Of course, we’re looking at replacing our HVAC system, and in analyzing it, our windows were found to be highly inefficient with a lot of leakage,” Mills said. “We think that will make a big difference.”

This marks the very first window replacement project to occur at city hall. Cookeville City Council awarded the project bid to Cookeville Glass and Mirror during Thursday night’s meeting.

Mills said the city will look at replacing the windows before installing the new HVAC system.

“The windows need to be in because it will help determine how much tonnage we’re going to need with our new HVAC system,” Mills said. “With the new HVAC system and new windows, we may see savings of up to 40-percent on our utilities.”

The window replacement project will take up to four months to complete.
