Construction Of HRS Hickory Valley Development Ahead Of Schedule

Construction going as planned a month into Highland Residential Services’ Hickory Valley development.

Development CEO Alvin Nance of a Knoxville-based real estate firm updated the housing authority board on construction progress Thursday. Nance said some building pads are complete and framing has begun.

“The schedule is calling for us to be complete by January 31st by 2024,” Nance said. “I’ll tell you right now we are ahead of schedule on construction, and more than likely we will finish construction before the end of 2023.”

The seven building development on Buffalo Valley Road will provide 48 affordable housing units. Nance said wall frames have gone up for two of the buildings. Nance said foundations have been completed at three sites with the last two starting next week.

Director of Operations Chris Cassetty said red clay mud that caused some compaction issues at the neighboring Oak Tree Towers has not been a problem for this development.
