The construction company doing work on Willow Avenue hopes motorists will slow down.
Project Manager Joe Lehrer said J&H Construction is performing the work under contract for the city of Cookeville. For the next three weeks, workers will be digging through Willow Avenue to replace water lines and a few sewer lines, he said.
“Be careful of our guys out there and if you could avoid the area, you know there’s a lane closure that would be greatly appreciated, that would make life better for everybody,” Lehrer said.
Workers will be on site from about 6 a.m. until about 4 p.m., Lehrer said.
Once the line repairs are complete, TDOT will begin paving the road, according to TDOT spokesman Jennifer Flynn.
