The Putnam County Planning Committee approved a resolution last night requiring members of the board of equalization to complete at least four hours of annual training.
Putnam County Executive Randy Porter said the training will be provided free of charge by the state comptroller’s office and failing to comply with the requirement could lead to an audit finding for the county.
Porter said state lawmakers recently passed a law requiring the training to take place.
The full county commission will look to give final approval when they meet next Monday.
