College Students: Fill Out FAFSA Starting This Month

College students across the country can file their FAFSA to prepare for next school year.

Tennessee Tech Director of Financial Aid Lester McKenzie:

“The FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid, it the single application that students apply for for all federal aid,” McKenzie said.

Information in the FAFSA is used by federal grant and loan programs as well as some state programs, like the HOPE Scholarship. It can be filled out anytime after October 1, and is completed online.

“Seniors in high school are starting to fill out the FAFSA now for next fall so the one that just opened is for the 18-19 award year,” McKenzie said.

Tech’s financial aid office is beginning to tour schools throughout the Upper Cumberland to help students fill out their FAFSA, McKenzie said.
