The cold weather means more work for local plumbing businesses.
Cookeville Plumbing and Electric Owner Joe Spieker said his workers have responded to a number of homes and buildings dealing with issues caused by the extreme temperatures.
“We’ve got lots of calls on frozen pipes. Unfortunately, we have normal business during the day too, so it doesn’t really help us in that regard. We work a little later and try to do as much as we can,” Spieker said.
Spieker said he’s also seeing a number of issues with heating and cooling units that are having trouble keeping up with the frigid temperatures.
“They are strained to the very max because we aren’t designed for this weather for long durations,” Spieker said. “This is Michigan weather so it’s straining everything right now.”
