The Middle District of Tennessee has a new U.S. Attorney.
Donald Q. Cochran was sworn in Thursday.
Cochran was nominated by President Donald Trump in June and confirmed by the U.S. Senate last week.
Before his appointment, Cochran was a law professor at Belmont University School of Law and an assistant U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of Alabama. He served as a deputy District Attorney in Birmingham. He was an Army Ranger and Special Forces officer.
Cochran is the fourth man to hold the job this year, the second to be appointed in the month of September.
David Rivera resigned in March when President Donald Trump asked for the resignations of all U.S. Attorneys. Jack Smith filled the position from March until early September, when he retired. Mark Wildasin was appointed September 5 to serve until Trump’s chosen appointee was approved by the U.S. Senate.
