Numerous roads across Clay and Jackson County are flooded according to emergency management officials.
As of 1:30am Sunday, 911 reported flooding along Wet Mill Creek Road, Pitcock Lane, Kyle Street, Williamson Street, Poor House Road, Free Hill River Road, Arcott Road, Turkey Creek Road, New Hope Road, Trace Creek Road Leonard Road, Luther Pedigo Road, and Mack Bean Road.
“We are receiving multiple reports of flood roadways throughout the county,” Clay 911 posted on Facebook. “We ask that you stay home if at all possible. Do not attempt to pass any flooded roads.”
Jackson County officials reported not only flooding but trash and debris on roadways.
Several more hours of rain are predicted which will likely only increase the flooding issues across the Upper Cumberland. A flash flood warning is in effect for most of the region overnight.
The National Weather Service reported some of the heaviest rain Saturday morning in Clay and Pickett Counties where as much as three inches fell. 5.74 inches of rain fell Saturday in Nashville, making it the fourth wettest day ever.
