Clay County officially discharged it’s 2015 Community Development Block Grant Monday.
County Mayor Dale Reagan said discharging the $300,000 grant was the final step in the process.
“We bought a new ambulance, some equipment to go on the ambulance and also a backup generator to go at our ambulance service, our EOC center,” Reagan said.
Communities compete to get the grants and have to match funds.
“Though the CDBG’s there’s a matching part on the community livability grants, but most of the time it’s about 8-9 percent, so if you can get $300,000 for about $23,000 that’s a pretty good deal, I think,” Reagan said.
Reagan said discharging the grant allows the county to apply for another grant this year.
