Clay County will once again apply for the state’s ThreeStar grant to upgrade Donaldson Park.
Chamber of Commerce President Doug Young said if awarded, the $50,000 would mainly be used to repair the existing ball courts.
“The city of Celina recently acquired Donaldson Park through a lease arrangement with the U.S. Corps of Engineers,” Young said. “And It’s in a state of repair right now.”
Young said the funds would also be used to bring a pickle ball court and more playground equipment. Young said the county has received the grant multiple times in the past and feels good about their application.
Young said past funding has been used for welcome signs, reading programs and a greenhouse for the school system.
