Clay Anti-Drug Coalition Hosts Health And Safety Day This Saturday

Clay County Anti-Drug Coalition will host their annual Health and Safety Day this Saturday.

Coordinator Daniel Roberts said the event is a day filled with both education and fun. He said there will be informational booths, free food, games, prizes, and safety simulators for attendees.

“Simulators on seatbelts and the impact of seatbelts to wear your seatbelts,” Roberts said. “A fire safety simulator to learn how to get out of a fire with smoke. They’ll learn techniques to stop, drop and roll. And there will be electricity simulators to learn how electricity works.”

Roberts said the activities at Health and Safety Day could provide attendees with skills to help them in the future. He said he hopes people will remember what they’ve learned at potentially save lives.

“They can learn in different situations when they used the simulators,” Roberts said. “And they can think back ‘Hey I learned that at Clay County Health and Safety Day, I’m glad I went that day.’ So hopefully in planting that seed for future minds, they do keep that, what they’ve learned.”

Roberts said that in addition to simulators and free food, they’ll also be handing out school supplies. He said the event is open to all in the community.

“This event is completely free,” Roberts said. “Everybody in the community and surrounding counties is welcome to attend. We’re not excluding nobody, and we want as many people to come out as possible. There’ll be plenty of food, plenty of prizes, and plenty of activities for all ages.”

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Clay County Fairgrounds.
