The Tennessee Highway Patrol arrested a man Tuesday for charges related to a deadly weekend shooting in Cumberland County.
Authorities have charged 35-year-old Kirk Douglas Clark of Clarkrange with one count of first degree murder.
Clark was arrested during a traffic stop at the Travel Plaza on Interstate Drive. He’s facing additional charges of possession of a prohibited weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, and altering or forging a vehicle registration.
Clark allegedly shot and killed 74-year-old Linda Damewood at her Cherokee Trail home on Saturday evening. 63-year-old Andrew Schan and 73-year-old Ellen Cairns suffered gunshot wounds and received treatment at area hospitals.
A press release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations said law enforcement officers identified Clark as an acquaintance of Damewood and individual responsible for the her death.
Clark is being held at the Cumberland County Jail on $2.02 million dollars bond. His initial court appearance takes place January 24th.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said Damewood’s body was sent for an autopsy and the investigation remains ongoing.
