CHS Vacant Assistant Principal Position Receiving Interest

Applications will close for a Cookeville High School Assistant Principal position Wednesday meaning the interview process will begin soon.

Principal Max Petett said he will be the chair of the committee tasked with hiring a candidate.

“We’re excited to see who is all interested,” Petett said. “As always, we go through this process with the intentions of getting the right person for Cookeville High School, the right person to fit with our team and the right person to help our students.”

Petett said department heads, counselors and other assistant principals will review applications. Petett said this group will conduct the first interviews. Then, the top two or three candidates will be interviewed by Petett and assistant principals.

“Mr. (Corby) King, we will run that name by him for final approval, but in these situations, Mr. King is awfully good at standing back and letting us pick our own team members,” Petett said.

Petett said the school has already seen healthy interest in the position. Rusty Darley left the assistant principal seat vacant after transferring to Algood Middle School as principal.
