The Cookeville High School carpentry class will auction it’s house Saturday.
The auction will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cookeville High.
Teacher Randy Mansell said the last three houses have sold for around $50,000 and hopes are high for this year’s sale.
“It has a nice flow to the house, no wasted space, we did put solid surface laminate floors in the kitchen, living room and dining room this year which was an upgrade,” Mansell said.
Each year, the carpentry class builds a home and auctions it, Mansell said.
“This program’s been going on in Putnam County since forever, really. They had this program when I was in high school and I’ve actually got an article on the board in there, the class of 1939 a bunch of old fellas sitting in front of the house that they built when they were in Putnam County high school,” Mansell said.
Proceeds from the sale go to fund next year’s house.
