White County Government and Christpoint Church will provide a family fun freedom celebration and fireworks show Saturday.
Pastor Steve Qualls said the gates open at 2pm with a kids zone including a dozen inflatables and a petting zoo.
“Our County Sheriff has a gospel group, very very good, everybody loves it,” Qualls said. “They’ll play for a while. And then Shattered will play. They play mostly classic rock but it’s very clean. They make sure that they don’t put anything in there that’s offensive to anyone.”
Qualls said there is limited bleacher seating so come prepared with folding chairs. He said many vendors will have crafts and foods including ice cream and snow cones.
Qualls said they expect eight to ten thousand people to attend the event throughout the day and there is room for everyone on the expansive facility.
“The good thing is we have such an open space the fireworks are easily visible from anywhere,” Qualls said.
Qualls said the fireworks start around 9pm.
“Its a classic fireworks show set to music with six inch shells that go extremely high,” Qualls said. “It is a professional show, we’re not shooting fireworks from the back of our trucks.”
The show is held at the Sportplex on Highway 70 West.
“It’s just a really good family fun patriotic celebration,” Qualls said.
