Child Advocacy Days Event Begins In Tennessee

The 30th annual Child Advocacy Days begin Tuesday to renew, refresh and refocus following 2020.

Krisi Paling is the Upper Cumberland Regional Coordinator for the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth. Paling said this event helps build connections and offer education to support the network of advocates around the state.

“All those interested can really come together to really be inspired by wonderful speakers, leaders and peers,” Paling said. “It’s an annual event, it consists of training, networking, advocacy and certainly celebration of the wonderful work that’s going on in our state and locally in our community.”

Paling said the four-day virtual event focuses on new agency directives, the latest data reports.

“A great opportunity for participants to actually become more effective advocates for children,” Paling said. “Both maybe in the public policy arena and in their own communities that provide ideas on that information that can drive some new ideas.”

Paling said that from Tuesday to Friday presentations and speeches will be given by Governor Lee, legal advocates, state and local officials and legislators. Paling said that a lot of the data and information shared this week would not typically be available to the general public.

“We have seen, as in other times of adversity, of the commitment and the determination of so many people here locally and across our state,” Paling said. “Both public, private sectors, folks have found some creative ways to work together and to continue to provide critical services and support to many children and youth and families, all over.”
