A White County judge has sentenced a woman to prison for a 2017 crash that killed her three-year-old child.
26-year-old Tiffanie Chapman will serve eight years after pleading guilty last week to vehicular homicide by intoxication.
The crash happened December 2 on Smithville Highway near John Kirby Loop. The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported Chapman’s 2011 Ford Fiesta crossed the center line before entering the westbound lane and traveling down a steep embankment.
Chapman’s three-year-old child suffered injuries and later died at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Prosecutors said a sample of Chapman’s blood indicated the presence of methamphetamine at the time of the crash.
Chapman was arrested in August 2018 after a grand jury handed down indictments related to the crash.
