White County Schools will hold its next Central View Committee meeting Thursday to discuss the future of the school property.
Committee Chair Bob Young said residents have not indicated what they will bring to the table.
“We wanted to give the community an opportunity to come back with an idea,” Young said. “A plan with some community action behind it that would be ideal.”
Young said he anticipates the idea of a resident ran community center to come back into discussion during the meeting. Business begins at 6:00 p.m. at central office.
“That did come up in conversation quite a bit,” Young said. “There’s a community center in Quebeck and that community has operated that facility for a number of years.”
The community had a year-end deadline to come back to the Board of Education with an idea on how to use the property before a board decision was made.
The committee consists of three School Board members including Young, Kenneth Robinson and Kay Prater. Young said Residents Bruce Null and Jeff Wright represent the Central View community.
