If you continue to deal with cell phone issues in the communities around highway 70, you are not alone.
Emergency Management Director Tyler Smith said national cell phone providers have deployed numerous resources to assist in coverage and range while repairs are made in the area.
“They’re working to rebuild that network and figure out what they need to do to get that back up,” Smith said. “Until they can do that, they have committed to us that they will keep as much of this small equipment that they need to in the community as they can.”
Deployable assets remain in the field and “numerous assets” on the ground and at the Emergency Operations Center to help with connectivity. Smith said that includes small cell towers remain in the field.
The carriers might have to move the assets should another disaster happen somewhere else.
Smith said the wireless providers are trying to provide adequate cell service. Speeds and data rates are much slower than normal. Missed calls and no bars on the phone have also been reported.
