The City of Celina has a few thousand dollars to use before the fiscal year ends for downtown improvements.
Three Star Director Doug Young said three new projects are expected to begin with money still leftover.
“We don’t have many businesses left that we haven’t been able to do something for,” Young said. “This is our third round of grants, and practically every building downtown has been able to benefit from that.”
Some of the new businesses coming in are a farm supply store and a home improvement business. Young said this program has greatly increased Celina’s economy. Young said the town has been through the Depression, fires, and structural damage but it still stands.
“When you drive through Celina and when you compare it today to ten years ago when we got our first grant, it’s a big change,” Young said.
The facade grant is a matching grant, Young said. Business owners who want to take advantage of the funds will have to match up to 25%.
