T-DOT has completed the required environmental study to create a truck route around Celina.
That is according to Clay County Mayor Dale Reagan. Reagan said the proposed route would start at the end of the State Route 52 bridge near Kyle Street.
“It looks like the possibility of that happening is very promising,” Reagan said. “First thing it would be is the safety where truck traffic has really increased over the last three to four years.”
Reagan said the road would then follow State Route 52 towards the old football field, go straight on the south-side of the field and loop back to the bridge. Reagan said T-DOT’s next phase would be acquiring the needed right-of-ways.
“When I say around Celina, there’s no where around that proposed route that you can’t see the steeple of the courthouse I would think,” Reagan said.
Reagan said the project has been under study since 2007. Reagan said at that time, T-DOT a group from Indiana checked the feasibility of the project.
