Celina has purchased a new trash truck after facing mechanical issues with its current vehicle.
Mayor Luke Collins said a $195,000 purchase to bring the solid waste department back to speed.
“When our other trash truck is tearing up, we have been picking up trash is with a flatbed truck and a pickup truck pulling a trailer,” Collins said. “It was taking a huge number on the employees and was eating us up in labor.”
Collins said the new truck will not be delivered until this summer. Collins said the current garbage truck however is operational for now while the city waits on the replacement.
Collins said the old truck will be used as a backup when needed.
