Celina Election Set For Tuesday

Celina voters will choose their next leader Tuesday.

Clay County Election Administrator Wanda Daniels said polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the Celina city election.

“We just have one district, district 3 which is inside the city limits and we just have one polling place, it’ll be here at the community center,” Daniels said.

Residents can stop by the community center at any time. Daniels said.

Mayor Willie Kerr chose not to run for re-election this year. Current alderman Charlie Goad and Joey Rich have turned in candidacy papers. Rich was a city employee who had to quit when he filed to run for mayor.

Four people are running for three alderman seats. Incumbents Henry “Buddy” Thompson and Donald Hasten are running. Tonya Spears and William Hill have filed to run for office for the first time.
