A firefighter and a resident sustained minor injuries in a fire on Cookeville’s Dixie Avenue Tuesday night. Crossville now boasts a New York-style hot dog stand. Owners Tammy Thompson and Rob Miller have opened Crazy Dawg. They’re the first location in Tennessee to sell Snap Dog brand hot dogs. Cookeville Police K-9s Receive Vests

The Cookeville Police K-9 officers will be better protected thanks to a donation from a national company. The five K-9 officers will each receive bullet and stab-proof vests, thanks to a donation from Perrigo Animal Health, the parent company of PetArmor flea and tick medication. Monterey Gives Approval For First Business To Sell Beer

The first business to sell alcohol in Monterey will be Convenience Mart on South Holly Street. The town’s beer board gave approval Monday night. Transportation Plan Includes Funding For Widening Highway 127

Governor Bill Haslam’s three year transportation plan includes funding for a major Upper Cumberland road project. The plan announced Tuesday will include funding for the widening of Highway 127 leading into Fentress County. Two Area Libraries Receive State Tech Grants

Two area libraries recently received technology grants from the state. The state Library and Archives awards the grants. Gainesboro’s Charles Ralph Holland Memorial Library and the White County Public Library each received just over $8,000.
