Warren County Anglers will be holding a fundraiser car wash on Saturday 8am to 1pm.
Anglers Coach Bert Sinks said the kids are skilled at polishing up a boat so they can certainly make your car shine. Sinks said donations will pay for the Anglers trip to Nationals in July. Sinks said he has a personal interest in the tournament this year.
“It gives me cold chills thinking about it,” Sinks said. “Especially since, you know, one of the teams is my son and his best buddy which is another son to me. You know, I’ve been there since he was five years old.”
Sinks said Warren County Anglers qualified with three teams this year. He said this has been the third time Warren County had qualified for Nationals.
Sinks said right now the teams are doing research and studying maps while they get ready for the three days of practice they will be allowed on the water at Lake Hartwell in South Carolina.
“It’s really a grinding sport,” Sinks said.
Sinks said sitting in the boat for hours before daybreak waiting for permission to start in freezing cold or summer extremes and spending ten hours on the water is all part of what makes a winner.
“I’m anxious to see what happens,” Sinks said.
Sinks said the car wash is at O’Reilly Auto Parts.
“Max Sparkman the manager there has graciously said I want to help you out and provide the area and the supplies you need to support these teams for these kids,” Sinks said.
