The Putnam County Board of Education recognized Capshaw Elementary and Park View Elementary for achieving Reward School status.
Director of Schools Corby King said both schools have achieved a 3.1 or higher GPA across all data.
“What a huge win for Park View Elementary,” King said. “This is the first time they’ve been named a Reward School. So this is an exciting day for them and an exciting day for the work that they’re doing with their students. A lot to be proud of there.”
King said these two schools achieved a 3.1 or better GPA while the district as a whole got a 2.66 achievement average GPA. Reward Schools are those that are improving overall student academic achievement and student growth for all students and for certain student groups, identified annually.
King said this is the sixth time Capshaw has achieved this goal. He said that is a testament to the hard work going on inside the school to keep that type of status.
“That’s hard work for a school to become a Reward School,” King said. “Then to sustain that the way that Capshaw has, that is interesting.”
