Cane Creek Park Is Part Of A TWRA Trout Stocking Stop

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) plans to release trout into the lake at Cane Creek Park tomorrow.

Press officer Lee Wilmot said this is part of the agency’s winter trout stocking program.

“The winter trout stocking program is a way to introduce people to the sport in areas that may not have the opportunity or trout streams,” Wilmot said. “Winter trout fishing is very popular in a lot of areas and this is a way to introduce that only during the winter time because of the temperature.”

The TWRA plans to release up to 90,000 rainbow trout into our state’s waters from now until March 2020.

“[Of]course the rules, the trout fishing regulations, do apply and it’s important that people understand that and have the appropriate liscenses. So we want people to catch the fish and take them home, that’s the whole purpose.”

Winter trout stocking will take place at Cumberland Mountain State Park and Meadow Creek Lake next Wednesday.
