Caine Expecting Electric Environment Vs. Macon

Upperman Head Coach Adam Caine said he expects the Friday night matchup with Macon County to be dramatic.

“We’ve gotten pretty acquainted with each other over the last two or three years,” Caine said. “It’s been a classic rivalry and I expect the same coming up this Friday.”

The two teams have played five times since 2021 with Upperman winning all five. In their last three match-ups, the Bees have won by a total of 11 points with all games being decided by one score. Caine said the community of Baxter understands how big of a game this is and expects a rowdy playoff atmosphere.

“It is going to be insane,” Caine said. “It’s not a very spacious environment, not a lot of seats to be had and they’re going to be here early. If you like high school football, this is what you want to come see.”

Caine said it is impressive at the athletes that have come through these two programs over the past half decade. Macon County currently possess a backfield of quarterback Luke Gammon and offensive weapons Gabe and Zach Borders.

Caine said there is not a lot film out there on how to stop the Tigers offense. He said stopping Gammon and the Border twins will be of the upmost importance.

“You got to get people around them, because it is going to be rare where one guy brings them down,” Caine said. “So you’ve got to have a couple of bodies around the ball just to make sure you keep them from going 80 yards on you.”

Upperman versus Macon County with kickoff at 7pm.
