Byrdstown has purchased the old Builders Supply building to help with the city’s equipment storage issues.
Mayor Sam Gibson said the water department typically leaves additional meters, equipment, water pipes, and other pieces at the plant. He said they are currently adding on to the water department and are running out of room to store those items.
“This property will give us an opportunity to store our vehicles under a building, have all of our supplies there centrally located right there in town,” Gibson said. “So this is going to be a big asset for the town of Byrdstown.”
Gibson said the town is purchasing the property at the appraised value of some $150,000. He said the purchase will come out of the Water Department’s budget.
Gibson said the next steps will be to get all of the paperwork in order and start the transition of equipment to the new space.
