Byrdstown Offering Payment Plans For Chanute Pall-Mall Customer Dues

Chanute Pall-Mall water customers with delinquent payments have until May 30th to address the issue with Byrdstown.

Mayor Sam Gibson said not all of the money needs to be paid at once. Gibson said he is offering payment plans for customers with substantial bills.

“We don’t want to cut anyone off,” Gibson said. “We’re going to give them every effort to pay, but if there is some that is behind, that is just one of the things we will have to do cause other people are paying theirs. But, we’re going to work with them to try and get everything caught up and paid.”

Gibson said customers can contact city hall for appointments on payment plans. If an agreement can not be met, Gibson said the town will be forced to cut water.

“We wrote letters out to people saying by the deadline all the bills that are owed will be moved over to Byrdstown, and we will be collecting those,” Gibson said. “We may have to cut off a few.”

Gibson said overall, the transition of ownership of the utility district has gone smoothly. Gibson said the district has about 400 active meters with about $25,000 past due.
